Maintenance method of Lagerstroemia indica bonsai

Lagerstroemia indica grows slowly, and the raw materials for making Lagerstroemia indica potted plants can only be grafted. Another method is to dig roots, move them to new potted plants, and then water them for maintenance. Maintenance should start from the following aspects:

1, illumination: Wei Zi bonsai likes light and generally grows in sunny and well-ventilated conditions. In winter, the southern region can spend the winter outdoors in the lee and sunshine, while the northern region should move indoors.

2. Water: Wei Zi bonsai should keep the soil moist in spring and winter, and water it once every morning and evening in summer and autumn. In case of drought and high temperature, the watering frequency can be appropriately increased every day, and river water, well water, rainwater and tap water can be stored for 2-3 days.

3. Fertilization: Potted Lagerstroemia indica should be fertilized regularly, with more fertilization in spring and summer, less fertilization in autumn and no fertilization in winter. No fertilization is applied at noon in rainy and hot summer, and the fertilization concentration is based on the principle of thin application and diligent application. Fertilize once every 10 day from beginning of spring to beginning of autumn, once every half month after beginning of autumn, and stop fertilizing after beginning of winter.

4. Pruning: Wei Zi bonsai is resistant to pruning, with strong branching and large growth of new shoots. Therefore, after flowering, the residual flowers should be cut off to prolong the flowering period, and the long branches, overlapping branches, cross branches, radiating branches and diseased branches should be cut off at any time to avoid consuming nutrition.

Pests and diseases: The diseases of Lagerstroemia indica bonsai generally include powdery mildew and bituminous coal disease, which can be controlled by carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl or carbendazim.

Upper Pot: When Lagerstroemia indica is placed in the pot, according to the shape of the pile head of Lagerstroemia indica bonsai and the needs of later modeling, loose and fertile humus loam is prepared, poured into the pot, so that its root system is closely connected with the soil, watered with sufficient water, and maintained in the shade.
