How to identify the quality of mulberry seeds?

The national standard GB 19 173—2003 Mulberry Seeds and Nurseries stipulates the quality indexes of mulberry seeds and hybrid mulberry seeds, and those that meet the following indexes are qualified seeds.

① 1000-grain weight refers to the weight of 1000 mulberry seeds within the specified water content range. Mulberry thousand seedlings ≥ 1.40g, and hybrid mulberry thousand seeds ≥1.45g. ..

(2) Seed germination rate refers to the percentage of mulberry seeds that can germinate normally on the specified date under suitable conditions. Seedling mulberry seeds ≥80%, hybrid mulberry seeds ≥85%.

(3) Seed water content refers to the percentage of mulberry seed water content in seed weight. The water content of seedlings and hybrid mulberry seeds should be ≤ 12%.

(4) Seed purity refers to the percentage of good seeds (full seeds, undamaged seeds, germinated seeds and moldy seeds) to the total weight of sample seeds after removing impurities and bad seeds. Seedling mulberry seeds ≥95%, hybrid mulberry seeds ≥98%.

⑤ Variety purity refers to the consistency of mulberry varieties. Hybrid seeds ≥95%.

The specific detection methods of each index are carried out according to the national standard GB 19 173-2003 "Rules for Inspection of Mulberry Seeds and Seedlings".

Generally speaking, the quality of mulberry seeds is identified by observing and investigating their appearance, smell, contents and germination rate. Good seeds are those that are full, uniform in size, yellowish brown and odorless. The germination rate of mulberry seeds can be simply investigated. Put the paper towels soaked in clear water in a proper size into a double dish, and divide the mulberry seeds into 10 rows, with 10 grains per row and *** 100 grains. If possible, put it in an incubator at 28 ~ 32℃ for protection, and put it at room temperature when the temperature is above 20℃. Repeat each batch of mulberry seeds for 3 times, and take the average germination rate; If there are many mulberry seeds and batches, the number of investigation samples should be increased.
