Where does Urumqi litchi come from?

Urumqi litchi is a geographical indication certification trademark.

Wushi litchi has a long history of planting. According to Zhangpu County Records, in Jiajing 12 of Ming Dynasty (1532), when Lin Gongmao, a scholar of Zhangpu, was in charge of Dongguan County, Guangdong Province, he began to introduce litchi varieties and planted them in Wushi, his hometown. The quality of this variety was better than that of the country of origin. The maturity of this variety is from late June to early July, with milky white flesh, bright color, big kernel and small meat, soft and sweet taste and good elasticity. The peeled shell does not shed juice or stick to sand when it falls. Mature single fruit weighs 20-26g and contains soluble solids 16.5-20%. "Fujian Tongzhi" records: "Litchi is extremely rich in Zhangzhou, and Zhangpu is the most abundant. Wei Zishan (Wushi, the old city) has a robe purple, and "Charming at once" tastes sweet, but it is big and small. When two people spit it out, their hearts are empty, and their armpits are full of wind. I want to be immortal! " Wushi litchi, known as the "Queen of Litchi", still ranks among dozens of litchi varieties because of its excellent quality and moderate maturity.

Dried litchi is baked from fresh litchi, and its appearance is brownish red, especially natural dried litchi, with thin shell and small meat, delicious taste, moderate sweetness and rich nutrition, which can be stewed and eaten. It is the best choice for winter tonic.

At present, the county has developed litchi 1.5 million mu with an annual output of 60,000 tons. 1In June, 1999, the organizing committee of the recommendation and publicity campaign for the hometown of specialty in China awarded Zhangpu County the "Hometown of Litchi in China".
