Geographical distribution of short-tailed dwarf kangaroo

Historically, short-tailed dwarf kangaroos were widely distributed, once all over the coastal areas of southwest Australia. Today, however, the short-tailed kangaroo is confined to three remote areas, only one of which is actually in the Australian mainland, living in the virgin forest around Perth, and most of them still live in Lotenis Island and the neighboring Bald Island.
