Why does Buddhism think that women can't become Buddhas and women can't go to pure land?

Shunquan Convenient Sutra records that a female bodhisattva (the daughter of an elder in Wang Shecheng) wants to become a monk and have a bright name. There are different opinions on whether a woman must become a man in the process of becoming a Buddha.
