Basic situation of flower industry development in Honghe Prefecture and Wenshan Prefecture 1. The planting of fresh cut flowers started late, with few flower varieties and low total output. The flower industry in these two States began to develop around 2003. Because the flower industry in our province has always been dominated by fresh cut flowers, due to geographical and climatic reasons, the production scale of fresh cut flowers is small and the planting is scattered in Honghe Prefecture and Wenshan Prefecture. After investigation, the production of fresh cut flowers in Honghe Prefecture is mainly concentrated in Gejiu, Kaiyuan, Mengzi and other cities and counties. Production enterprises mainly include Gejiu Xi Du Flower Company, Red Dot Flower Company, Lv Jing Flower Company, Yunnan Honghe National Agricultural Science and Technology Park and other large companies, mainly planting fresh cut flowers such as roses, Anthurium andraeanum, carnations and gerbera. The output of fresh cut flowers in Wenshan Prefecture is very limited, mainly relying on the spontaneous and sporadic planting of local flower farmers. For example, near Wenshan Airport, a flower farmer surnamed Gao rented the 15 greenhouse used by the State Academy of Agricultural Sciences to grow vegetables, planted 7 mu of roses (varieties include Corolla, Dark Magic, Diana and Bicolor Powder) and 3 mu of Gerbera jamesonii, and collected about 300 flowers for each flower shop in the county during the flowering period. In addition, flower farmers in other parts of the county also sporadically plant and produce cut flowers such as chrysanthemum, grass chrysanthemum and amaranth. 2. The production of green seedlings and horticulture have developed rapidly. In the field investigation, we saw that the production of green seedlings in Honghe Prefecture and Wenshan Prefecture developed very rapidly. Because the Red River and Wenshan are mostly mountainous areas with low latitudes, abundant sunshine, abundant heat resources and the same season of rain and heat, the ecological environment in the areas under their jurisdiction is different and the biodiversity of biological species is rich, which has laid a solid foundation for the development of green seedlings. In addition, the acceleration of the construction of small towns in our province has promoted the development of green seedling industry in the two States. The production of green seedlings in Honghe Prefecture is mainly concentrated in Gejiu, Mengzi, Kaiyuan, Luxi, Maitreya and Hekou, especially in Kaiyuan and Mengzi counties. Kaiyuan City has always been a transportation hub in southeastern Yunnan, and vehicles traveling to and from central and southeastern Yunnan have to pass through this city, which has created favorable conditions for the development of young crops. On both sides of Kaiyuan section of Kunhe Highway, there are more than 40 large and small greening garden enterprises or nurseries, such as Honghe Horticultural Field, Honghe Qingyun Company, Yongchun Nursery and Shengxingyuan Company. According to statistics, in 2006, the planting area of green seedlings in Kaiyuan City has reached more than 4,600 mu. On both sides of Honghe Avenue, the main road of Mengzi County, there are more than ten green seedling production units, such as Green Yunnan Nursery and Landscape Garden Company, with a planting area of more than 2,000 mu. Wenshan County, Wenshan Prefecture is adjacent to Guangxi and Vietnam. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Quanzhou, and also the distribution center and logistics center of Quanzhou's flower industry. In recent years, the development of urbanization has promoted the development of local flower industry, and flower trading centers have gradually formed. On both sides of Wenshan-Yanshan Highway, there are more than 10 green seedlings and horticultural production enterprises, such as Hongqi Forest Farm, Taikang Flower Farm, Asia Pacific Company and Yanshan Yiyuan Flower Co., Ltd., and the planting scale is above 100 mu. 3. The characteristic flower industry has a strong development momentum. With the rapid development of young crops industry in the two states, the characteristic flower industry is also very strong, with the output value and scale increasing year by year. Due to the high mountains and dense forests and rich orchid resources in some areas of Wenshan Prefecture, the national orchid trade in Wenshan Prefecture is very prosperous. Local farmers often dig some bluegrass up the mountain and bring it to the local market for trading, and gradually formed a fixed trading market, which made domestic and provincial bluegrass lovers come to Wenshan County for trading and became a major part of the flower industry in the state. At the same time, industrial pyrethrum planting in Luxi and Maitreya counties of Honghe Prefecture, marigold pigment flower planting in Jianshui County and medicinal flower planting in other counties and cities have also developed, laying a good foundation for the extension of flower industry chain in our province. 4. The consumption of flowers has increased rapidly. In recent years, the social and economic development of Honghe and Wenshan is very rapid, people's lives are constantly improving, and the consumption of etiquette flowers, family flowers and group flowers is increasing, which makes the production of fresh cut flowers in the two States far from meeting the increase of local consumption demand. It is understood that some flower companies drive flower farmers to plant in Honghe Prefecture, and some Wenshan Prefecture spontaneously plant sporadically. Although part of the local flower consumption gap has been made up, the consumption demand of bulk flowers is still mainly transferred from Kunming flower market. In addition, the growing market demand has also promoted the emergence of specialized flower markets. For example, due to the increase of flower consumption in recent years, the old market in Wenshan County can no longer meet the needs of development, so the local government built a flower and bird market in Puyang Road, Wenshan County. 5. The income brought by flower planting to farmers has increased obviously. Take Wenshan as an example. In 2004, the per capita income of farmers who planted food crops and cash crops was 1.24 yuan, and in 2005 it was 1.36 yuan, and the per capita income of farmers who planted flowers was 1.60 yuan.
