The flowering period of Lagerstroemia speciosa is from June to September every year. Lagerstroemia speciosa, which originated in Asia, is distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of China. Ziwei flowers are red, purple and white. Lagerstroemia indica is known as "Hundred Days Red" because of its bright colors and long flowering period.

In ancient poetry, osmanthus fragrans is often accompanied by the expectation that ancient scholars are eager to show their talents, and the long flowering period of osmanthus fragrans is also a commendable feature in poetry. In Zhabei Park, the flowering period of Osmunda japonica can be longer under the careful cultivation of maintenance personnel.

According to director Jiang Haibin, the maintenance personnel in the park have received the guidance and training from relevant experts and mastered more scientific pruning and maintenance techniques.

Adopting the most suitable pruning method for Osmunda japonica can prolong the flowering period of Osmunda japonica.

Lagerstroemia speciosa has graceful posture, smooth and clean trunk, twisted branches, slender branchlets and smooth bark, which is gray or grayish brown.
