What are the transmission routes of gonorrhea?

(1) Direct contact with infection through sexual intercourse. Neisseria gonorrhoeae has affinity for epithelial cells of human urinary tract and reproductive tract, and has pili on its surface, which can be adsorbed and embedded into epithelial cells. Sexual contact with gonorrhea patients or asymptomatic gonorrhea patients is easy to get gonorrhea.

(2) Infection through indirect objects. These items are often contaminated by patients' secretions, and bath towels, foot wraps, bathtubs, underwear, bedding, etc. used by patients can cause infection.

(3) Pregnant women with gonorrhea are prone to gonococcal ophthalmia when their newborns pass through the cervix and vagina during delivery.

The incubation period of gonorrhea is about 1 week, that is, symptoms appear about 1 week after infection.
