Development history

White flower stone carving has a long history. It is said that since the Sui and Tang Dynasties, stone sculptors have used a delicate, soft and red and white white white stone (white, gray and light green stone layers in pig liver and dark green stone) to carve stone screens, inkstones, pen holders, flower pots, vases, ashtrays, fruit boxes and other daily utensils, which are unique.

Guangyuan County Records describes the historical situation of Baihua stone carvings. According to county records, Baihua Stone Carving began in Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty. Folk artists picked Baihua Stone in Beitaiping Township of the county and carved it into stone tablets for sale. At the end of Guangxu, Wei Xixian and Wei Li from Bazhong came here to study with their uncles, and then they opened the "Old Pen Studio" in the north street of the county. Due to the design of materials, they are carved into stone screens, inkstones, pen holders, flower pots, fish tanks, stone bottles and other handicrafts with landscapes, figures, flowers and birds.

After the founding of New China, the artists of the Stone Carving Society established the Stone Carving Society in Guangyuan, which inherited and developed stone carving, and produced carved and hollowed-out "Dragonfly" inkstone platform, "Plum Blossom" pen holder, "Song He" vase, beautifully carved "Lotus" fish tank, and stone carving screens with folk customs and landscapes as themes. Products have participated in previous provincial and national industrial and artistic exhibitions. Since 1978, some fine works have been selected for exhibitions in Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, the United States and Guyana.
