How does bamboo breed?

Bamboo propagation mainly depends on four methods: branching, burying branches, whipping and sowing.

1, buried whip

The method of burying whip is mainly suitable for free-range bamboo and mixed bamboo.

The main method is to choose a healthy bamboo whip, keep the root of the whip, leave more soil at the root, cut the bamboo whip into half a meter long bamboo sections, lay it flat on the seedbed, cover it with a thin layer of soil, and water it properly to keep the soil moist. After burying the whip, pay attention to watering in dry weather and drainage in rainy days. Proper fertilization and weeding should be carried out after emergence.

Step 2 bury branches

Burying branches is mainly used for overgrown bamboo. The main method is to select strong bamboo, cut it into sections, put the cut bamboo sections into clear water, seal the bamboo poles with soil after soaking in water, and bury the bamboo poles upward in the seedling soil to keep the soil moist.

Buried joint

This method is also suitable for clustered bamboo. The main method is to saw bamboo poles every two sections, then bury them in seedling soil, cover the soil and water them.

3, lateral branch seedling raising

Suitable for clustered bamboo. The main method is to cut off the side branches from the strong bamboo, spray water on them to keep them moist, and then cut them after the buds grow on them.

4. Clonal ramets

This method of ramet propagation is mostly used for bamboo which grows very vigorously. We need to prepare a sterilized knife to cut off the root-sucking buds growing at the base of bamboo. The original bamboo can be put back, and the newly cut root-sucking buds need to be taken out.
