Mochou Lake is located on the west side of Qinhuai River outside jianye district, with a total scenic area of 0.5 1 1 km2, of which the lake area is 0.323 km2 and the land area is 0. 187 km2. It is the second largest lake in the main city of Nanjing after Xuanwu Lake, and has the reputation of "the first scene of Jinling".

During the Six Dynasties, the south bank line of the Yangtze River moved northward and Mochou Lake was formed. It was called Hengtang in the Southern Tang Dynasty, and it was also called Shicheng Lake because it was close to Shicheng. In the early Ming Dynasty, there were more than ten pagodas along Mochou Lake. In the middle of Ming Dynasty, Mochou Lake was a descendant of Wei Gong Xu Da and Xu's family and became one of the famous gardens in Jinling. In the fifty-eighth year of Qing Qianlong (1793), Mochou Lake was renovated on a large scale, and more than ten pagodas such as Yujintang were built along the lake. During the Xianfeng period, buildings and flower trees were destroyed by war; Ten years of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (187 1), Mochou Lake was rebuilt and the lake scenery gradually recovered. In the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), Mochou Lake was turned into a park.

Mochou Lake is a shallow water lake, which was formed by accumulated water in the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River and Qinhuai River. It turned out that Qinhuai River entered the estuary and became a lake due to sediment deposition. It is 680 meters long from north to south, 770 meters wide from east to west, and the lake is 4 meters above sea level. Its main functions are landscape water and indirect entertainment water, and it has no storage capacity. Mochou Lake Scenic Area includes Mo Chounv's former residence, Yu Jintang, Su Hexiang, Sacred Building, Huayan Temple, Mochou Water Academy, Wen Qi Museum, the tomb of soldiers of Guangdong Army, Bao Yue Building, Haitang Boutique Garden and Sino-Japanese Friendship Iris Garden.
