What is China planning to launch 80 small satellites for?

It is reported that Aerospace Xingyun Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, was unveiled today, and officially launched the "Xingyun Project" to build a space-based Internet of Things satellite. The project plans to launch 80 small satellites, build the first constellation of low-orbit narrowband communication satellites in China, and build a space-based Internet of Things that will eventually cover the whole world.

Zhang Qin, vice president of China Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology and chairman of Xingyun Company, said that at this stage, more than 80% of the world's land and more than 95% of the world's oceans cannot be covered by mobile cellular networks. But with the space-based Internet of Things, all this is expected to be rewritten, and oceans, islands, deserts and other places may be easily interconnected.

The so-called space-based Internet of Things refers to an information ecosystem that connects all communication nodes around the world through satellite systems, providing an organic connection between people and things. It has the characteristics of wide coverage, being unaffected by climate conditions, strong system viability and high reliability, and has broad application prospects.

Zhang Wei said that Xingyun Technology is committed to developing and launching small satellites in low orbit, networking to form constellations, building a space-based Internet of Things, realizing seamless acquisition, transmission and * * * sharing of Internet of Things information on a global scale, and building an information ecosystem including cloud computing, big data and other services.

From June 2065438 to June 2007, the first technical verification star of the "Nebula Project" "Nebula Test No.1" was successfully launched into orbit by the Kuaizhou No.1 carrier rocket.

Now, the "Cloud Plan" has entered the formal formation stage of the satellite constellation.

According to the plan, 80 small satellites of Xingyun Technology will gradually build the system in three stages: α, β and γ. In the alpha phase, it is planned to build a system consisting of "Xingyun II" 0 1 and 02 satellites, and carry out trial operation and demonstration project construction simultaneously; In the beta stage, small-scale networking will be realized; In the γ stage, build the whole system and open up domestic and foreign markets such as the Belt and Road Initiative.
