Working principle of aircraft flap

One is to increase the wing area, the other is to change the camber of the wing, and the third is to add one or more gaps for airflow to pass through.

The purpose of installing flaps on aircraft is to increase lift, including increasing lift acceleration during takeoff and increasing lift deceleration during landing.

Increasing the wing area can increase the wind area of the aircraft and achieve the purpose of increasing lift;

Changing the camber of the wing changes the included angle between the wing and the wind. When the wing is subjected to wind with the same intensity, according to the change of angle, it can obtain a larger component from the wind to facilitate landing or a smaller component to accelerate climbing.

Increasing the gap makes the air flow from the lower wing to the upper wing, speeding up the upper wind speed and reducing the upper pressure, so that the aircraft can gain more lift stably.
