Square base of quadrant

Quadrant is an abandoned constellation name. In the early 20th century, it can be found in Draco, Ursa Major and Capricorn. 1922, together with other constellations, it was officially excluded from the crowded starry sky by the International Astronomical Union, thus determining 88 constellations that are popular internationally today. Quadrant recorded the history of such a constellation name through a famous meteor shower.

In A.D. 1795, Lalander of the former Soviet Union and his nephew Michel Le Francais invented this term when observing a series of stars with this instrument. But this term is not recognized by modern astronomy, so it can only be used as a "generic term". 1922, together with other constellations, it was officially excluded from the crowded starry sky by the International Astronomical Union, thus determining 88 constellations that are popular in the world today. However, the name Constellation survived the famous meteor shower. The quadrant meteor shower is one of the strongest meteor showers every year.
