Stargazing at night: a practical guide to astronomical observation

Terrence Dickinson is the author of 14 astronomical books and the editor of SkyNews, a Canadian astronomical magazine. His interest in astronomy began when he was five years old, when he saw a bright meteor in front of his house. In 1960s and 1970s, Dickinson worked in two large planetariums, and became a full-time astronomical writer and editor from 65438 to 0976. His book won the annual book award of the New York Academy of Sciences, and he won the Cropke-Robert Award of the Pacific Astronomical Society and the honorary doctorate of Trent University in Canada for his outstanding contribution to the dissemination of astronomy to the public. 1994, asteroid 5272 was named after him. 1995 won the highest medal of Canada. Dickinson is also an accomplished astrophotographer. He took most of the photos in this book (comet hale-bopp is in his backyard on the right). He lives in a village in eastern Ontario, Canada, and likes to watch the stars in his backyard, while his private observatory is full of telescopes and cameras for astrophotography.

Croplanck-Robert Award of the Pacific Astronomical Society in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the dissemination of astronomical knowledge to the public. Canada's highest national medal. Canada won the first prize in science and technology writing, the Canadian National Magazine Award and the Canadian michael smith Public Science and Technology Development Award. Canadian Children's Literature Honorary Book Royal Canadian Institute Award for Special Contribution to Public Science Communication. Canadian Association of Science and Technology Writers awarded an honorary doctorate to Trent University in Canada.

The Committee of the International Astronomical Union named the asteroid 5272 Dickinson after him.
