What's so good about the planetarium?

Movies are more attractive, and now there are some exhibitions, mainly to give you a preliminary understanding of astronomy.

Cosmic theater

Cosmic Theater consists of Planetarium and Digital Cosmic Theater. Cosmic theater

The large planetarium made in China in the planetarium of the old museum can display about 9,000 stars with magnitude above 6.55, as well as the names and connecting lines of constellations, the coordinate system of apparent motion of the solar system and planets. The names and connections of my ancient constellations, Sanyuan, Twenty-eight Hostels and Twenty-four Solar Terms, are also added to the ecliptic. In addition, it is equipped with nearly 100 special-effect projectors for performing comets, meteors, solar decoys and spaceships, as well as slide projectors, large-screen projectors and other equipment. The new Digital Universe Cinema uses SGI's Onyx300 IR4 super graphics workstation as the computing host. This machine has 12GB memory, 24 CPUs, 6 graphics pipes and 96 18G hard disks. It is the supercomputer with the strongest graphics and image processing ability in the world. Onyx300 IR4 super graphics workstation can process the data of billions of stars, model, catalog and locate accurately in space, thus providing real-time and high-quality virtual universe roaming.

Stereoscopic cinema

The Cosmic Theater of Beijing Planetarium consists of 3D popular science theater and 4D popular science theater. The 3D Popular Science Theater consists of six groups of 8-base dynamic seats, which can rise and fall (free fall), swing left and right, rotate left and right (sharp turn), move back and forth (facing the screen, such as sudden braking or acceleration), rotate (such as the car skidding and spinning in place) and rotate up and down (such as a roller coaster climbing up). With the corresponding film and theater effects, specifications and characteristics will be produced: 8 seats (cabin type), 6 groups of ***48 seats, and 870 linear playback projection system. There are six degrees of freedom in the direction of seat movement: up and down (free fall), left and right swing, left and right rotation (sharp turn), back and forth (facing the screen, such as sudden braking or acceleration), self-rotation (such as the car skidding and rotating in place), and up and down rotation (such as climbing on a roller coaster). This equipment is the most advanced dynamic film equipment in the world. With the corresponding film and theater effects, it will have a thrilling effect of taking a spaceship. The 4D popular science theater consists of a film projection system showing stereoscopic and special effects films and 65,438+096 audience seats. Six synchronous movie projectors show stereoscopic movies on a 65,438+080-degree circular screen, which produces special effects such as smoke, water, wind and smell according to the needs of the movie plot. The seats can vibrate and descend with the development of the plot. Audiences should wear special glasses when watching movies.

observatory

There are three astronomical observatories in Beijing Planetarium, which are both open to the audience and have observation tasks. Beijing Planetarium Observatory

The new museum was completed from June 5 to February 5, 2004. There are two observatories at the top of the building. One is the Solar Observatory, equipped with a solar vacuum telescope, which can observe solar flares, solar decoys, dark stripes, spectral spots and other solar activities on the chromosphere during the day. The other is a public observatory, equipped with a 400 mm reflective telescope, which is mainly used for night observation. The public observatory has an optical reflecting telescope with a diameter of 40 cm. It is mainly used to meet the needs of audience and young students for astronomical observation and teaching practice. A130mm refracting telescope was installed in the West Observatory. Since 1957, it has been used to systematically observe sunspots and accumulated continuous observation data. It is mainly used for astronomical observation and teaching practice of the sun, moon, planets, comets and bright nebulae by audiences and young students.
