What is the significance of satellite link technology to communication?

First of all, a series of projects like Star Chain have not solved the communication problems in our daily life in essence. Under the foreseeable technical level, the telephone in our hands still needs base stations, and it is unlikely to communicate directly with satellites. So I don't think there will be much change in big cities, and there is no way to talk about advantages.

For remote areas, high mountains and high altitudes, far away from the sea of land and space communication, where it is impossible to build fixed base stations to lay optical cables (or where the cost is high and the income is low), satellite link engineering is very useful, which can provide low-delay and high-bandwidth network communication services. I'm more optimistic about satellite connection.

If we look to the extraterrestrial planet, then the satellite link is obviously the most reliable communication solution, because it is impossible to build a large number of ground base stations and lay optical cables on any extraterrestrial planet.

Therefore, the future communication on the moon, Mars, etc. must be based on star chain technology.

As for whether this project can be commercially successful, I think there is such a business model at least on earth.
