Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties

The Five Dynasties refer to the Liang, Tang, Jin, Han and Friday Dynasties in the Central Plains after the demise of the Tang Dynasty.

The Ten Kingdoms refers to ten separatist regimes, such as Pre-Shu, Post-Shu, Wu, Southern Tang, wuyue, Fujian, Chu, Southern Han, Nanping (namely Jingnan) and Northern Han, which appeared around the Central Plains.

This adds up to five generations and ten countries.

Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties refers to the period from the establishment of Wei by Cao Pi in the Three Kingdoms to the unification of Sui Dynasty.

It is generally said in history that the Three Kingdoms, the Jin Dynasty and the Southern and Northern Dynasties are more accurate, because although Wei occupied the northern Central Plains, it did not achieve reunification. At that time, there was Wu in the south of the Yangtze River and Shu in the southwest. It is not very accurate to refer to this period with Wei.

Specifically,

Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties refers to Wei established by Cao Pi. Of course, there were Shu and Wu in this period.

The Western Jin Dynasty and the Eastern Jin Dynasty established by Sima's family (during this period, the north was in the period of five chaos)

The Southern Dynasties refer to the four dynasties of Song, Qi, Liang and Chen.

The Northern Dynasties refer to the Northern Wei, Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi and Northern Zhou Dynasties.

Finally, the Sui Dynasty replaced the Northern Zhou Dynasty to unify the North, and then went south to destroy Chen and unify China. The Northern and Southern Dynasties are over.
