Research history of scorpions

When Jahannes Hewelius, a Polish astronomer, delineated Scorpio in 1687, the original constellation was not a lizard, but an animal like a water wrasse or a mink, because lizards were rarely seen in his hometown of Gdansk, Poland.

There are no related ancient legends. Before Jahannes Hewelius discovered this constellation, some people regarded this starry sky as "the staff of justice" or "the glory of Frederick".
