Why are constellations always inconsistent with names?
The biggest complaint I've ever heard about constellations is that the names don't seem right. There is a reason for this.
First, due to light pollution, we usually can't see dim stars, which may make the overall image of the constellation more suitable for their names. The constellation Ursa major is a typical example. The seven bright stars of the Big Dipper are not like a bear, but if the surrounding dark stars are included, the similarity is not low. Note that people who point out these simple images live in a dark sky all their lives.
Secondly, people have tried their best to find a recent image and need a little imagination to fill the gap here.
