Cili County is located in the northwest of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, on the eastern edge of Wuling Mountain, in the middle reaches of Lishui River, bordering Shimen County in the northeast, Taoyuan County in the southeast, Sangzhi County in the northwest and Yongding County in the southwest. It is a mountainous county with "seven mountains and half water, one road and one manor".
