Soon, he was disciplined at Guanzong Temple in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and worshipped Tiantai Sect for forty-three generations. 1925 was officially accepted as the 44th generation descendant of Tiantai Sect. That year, he represented the China Buddhist community at the "East Asian Buddhist Federation" held in Japan. Lengyan Temple in Yingkou, Gokurakuji in Harbin, prajna temple in Changchun, prajna temple in Shenyang, Ai 'an Temple in Shenyang, Great Tragedy Hospital in Tianjin, Daxing Temple in Xi, etc. were established, and a Buddhist college was set up in Beijing Maitreya Academy to preside over Fayuan Temple, an ancient temple in Beijing. 193 1 was appointed abbot of Daxing Temple in Xi 'an, preaching and running schools. /kloc-founded zhanshan temple in Qingdao in 0/932 as abbot. Later, he declined politely because of his old illness, and devoted himself to the cause of Buddhist education. In Hong Kong, South China Buddhist College, Tiantai Buddhist Fine House, Diligent Master Memorial Hall, Chinese Buddhist Library and Qingshan Gokurakuji Fo Yin Institute have been established successively. He devoted his life to revitalizing Buddhism, promoting Buddhism, advocating jungle colleges and college jungles, establishing many jungles and Buddhist colleges, and widely cultivating Buddhist talents at home and abroad. In the management of monasteries, reform measures such as selecting abbots by ten methods, serving for three years, and returning abbot funds to the public have been implemented.

On July 1963, 1 1, Master Xu Xuan passed away in Hong Kong at the age of 89. On September 29th of the same year, his disciples built a stupa as a memorial at the Zhanshan Temple in Macau at the foot of Saigon Mountain in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Because of his profound Buddhist attainments and outstanding merits, the school of Buddhism represented by him is called "Zhanshan School".
