Introduction to Raphael

Raphael Sanzio (1April 6, 483-1April 6, 520), also known as Raphael, Raphael Sanzio or Sanzio Daour Bay, was one of the important painters and architects in the Italian Renaissance. He was born in urbino, the son of a painting family. He was exposed to art since he was a child, and at the age of 18, he became an apprentice to the Florentine master perugino Della Square. He soon became an excellent painter and was regarded as one of the "Three Masters" of his time (the other two were Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci).

Raphael's works are beautiful, lively and full of youth, bearing the rational spirit and belief of advocating beauty in the Italian Renaissance. His early works were mainly religious themes, and later he turned to portraits and public building decoration, with a large number of works. The most famous works are murals of the Sistine Madonna, the Athens Academy and the Palace of Faenta in Rome.

Raphael's creation has had a far-reaching influence on the development of art in history and is regarded as one of the most representative artists in the Renaissance. His works are still an indispensable part of the world art history.
