Introduction to COSMO-Skymed

COSMO-SkyMed is a high-resolution radar satellite, and it is the second satellite in the constellation of COSMO-SkyMed high-resolution radar satellites jointly developed by the Italian Space Agency and the Italian Ministry of Defence. Satellite constellation * * * has four satellites, and the launch task of the whole satellite constellation will be completed before the end of 2008. On June 8, 2007, the American Delta -2 rocket successfully launched the Italian COSMO-SkyMed 1 satellite. This satellite, manufactured by Telex Lenya Space Company, is the first satellite of a joint project between the Italian Ministry of Defence and the Space Agency. The project is called COSMO-SkyMed Constellation, which consists of four X-band SAR satellites.
