When did chess originate?

The production age is unknown. Chess was first called elephant play, which came from the Northern Zhou Dynasty, meaning symbolic game. From the Southern and Northern Dynasties to the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Liang Wudi wrote Xiang Jing, Wang Bao wrote Xiang Xu and Geng Xin wrote Xiang Jing Fu, which marked the completion of the second major reform of chess.

The word "Xiang" first appeared in Tianhe, the Emperor of the Northern Zhou Dynasty. According to Zhou Shu's Biography, "Tianhe was ugly in May of the fourth year, and it was spread by hundreds of people after the completion of Xiang Jing." This is a great event in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, which is really lively. Many scholars believe that according to reliable records in ancient books, chess was popular in the Warring States period.
