Similarities between Yongle Dadian and Sikuquanshu: The scale of these two books is extremely huge! The difference between them is that one is compiled in Ming Dynasty and the other is compiled in Qing Dynasty. Relatively speaking, Sikuquanshu is richer than Yongle Dadian.

"Yongle Dadian" was compiled in the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, and collected more than 7,000 ancient and modern classics, divided into 1 1095 volumes, with a total of 370 million words! Sikuquanshu was compiled in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, and collected more than 3,500 kinds of ancient and modern books, divided into more than 36,000 volumes, with a total word count of not less than 800 million words!

The editing and copying of Yongle Dadian involved more than 2,000 people, including important ministers of the dynasty and ordinary "copywriters". There are nearly 4000 copywriters in Sikuquanshu, and countless officials participate in the collection, sorting and editing of ancient books.

Interestingly, the editors of the Qing Dynasty must know the hard work of copying books, so they specially introduced a set of "incentive mechanism". They chose the scholars who failed to write well and stipulated that everyone should copy books at least 1000 words every day. After five years of copying, they were divided into different grades according to the number of words, and were awarded official positions according to the grades. If they copy 2 million words, they will be promoted to the city leadership!

Summary: There are too few sets of these two books. I only copied a set of Yongle Dadian for Emperor Yongle to read. Seven sets of Sikuquanshu were copied, but the cost of plate making and printing at that time was still much higher than that of manual copying. Therefore, these two books have no treasure and treasure value, but the Yongle Dadian and Sikuquanshu we are seeing now are basically re-edited and printed.
