Junping Street in Chengdu

Yan Junping's "Lao Zi Gui Zhi" says: Wandering in the emptiness and quietness, focusing on subtlety, caring about no desire, and referring to inaction, you can live longer and live longer.

Yan Junping was a Taoist scholar and thinker in the early Western Han Dynasty from 86 BC to 10. Ming Zun (formerly known as Zhuang Junping according to legend, written by Ban Gu in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and later rewritten as to avoid the taboo of Emperor Gaozu Liu Zhuang) was born in Chengdu, Shu County.

When Han became emperor (reigned in the first 32 ~ 7 years), he lived in seclusion in the well of Chengdu (big hidden in the ruling and opposition parties, middle hidden in the street, and small hidden in the mountains leisurely). Take divination as a profession (divining turtles gives people face). Yan Junping is as free as gender. His divination booth counts divination every day, and when the money is enough, he will put it away and go home. He taught "doing good according to the situation" and preached loyalty, filial piety, faithfulness and Laozi's moral classics for the benefit of all. After 50 years old, he lived in seclusion, wrote and apprenticed in Pingle Mountain, Pixian County, at the age of 9 1. On the day of his funeral, people spontaneously came out to mourn him and the street was blocked.

Yan Junping once predicted that "Wang Mang was subdued and his martial arts flourished", and predicted two important historical events "Wang Mang usurped power" and "martial arts flourished" more than 20 years in advance, showing how accurate the prediction was and how in-depth the study of the Book of Changes was. Yang Xiong, a proud disciple, was also tempered. He wrote two of the most important works in his life, namely, Lao Zi's Annotation and Tao Te Ching (Lao Zi's Guide to the Classics of Sui Shu), which made Li Er's Taoist theory more systematic and developed.

The Taoist theory and philosophy in Lao Zi Gui Zhi were inherited by Yang Xiong, Wang Bi, Cheng and others, which became the germination of metaphysics in Wei and Jin Dynasties.

Once praised the teacher, saying that the pearl of Sui and Hou, the wall of He family, are not as brilliant as. ("He Shi Bi is not decorated with five picks; After the Sui Dynasty, the pearls were not decorated with silver and yellow, and their beauty was insufficient. ”)

His scholarship has been passed down to this day, but few people know his deeds. In any case, although the master passed away, his contribution to people and his works still shine with eternal light in the long river of history.

There used to be Junping Hutong to the west of Vocational and Technical Street in Chengdu. According to textual research, Yan Junping divined and sold divination in this area, and the remains include Yan Xianjing and Junping Butai. In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, this place was called "Junping Booth"; In the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, it was rebuilt as a pass; The remains of Junping in Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties are preserved here, and Junping Street was discovered in Qing Dynasty. To this day, we can still see this street near People's Park.
