Tang Priest tried his best to retrieve the scriptures, but on his way back, he left them near Tongtian River. There is also an old turtle who is enthusiastic about helping Tang Priest. Unfortunately, in the process of crossing the river, the old turtle suddenly asked Tang Priest a question, and as a result, Tang Priest really forgot to ask. The old turtle was angry and threw it into the water with the scriptures.

Is it a pity to see everyone here? If the Tang Priest had this old turtle, the result would be much better. At least we can cross the Tongtian River safely and the scriptures will not get wet. Is that really the case? According to Tutu's analysis, even if Tang Priest asked Tathagata questions for the old tortoise in Tongtian River, the old tortoise would still throw Tang Priest and scriptures into the river. Why is there such a conclusion?

As we all know, when the Tang Priest returned to the Tang Dynasty to learn the scriptures, he was walking in clouds and suddenly fell down near the Tongtian River. This is not an accident, but a deliberate act of Buddhism, because when the five parties revealed the truth to Guanyin Bodhisattva and reported their work of studying Buddhism, they had a bookkeeping booklet, which recorded in detail what hardships they had experienced in studying Buddhism. However, Guanyin Bodhisattva found that it should be eighty-one. As a result, only eighty difficulties were recorded in the booklet, which means one was missing. At this time, Guanyin Bodhisattva asked the five parties to uncover the truth, chased the Eight donkey kong, and used magic to let the Tang Priest and his disciples land near the Tongtian River.

In other words, the reason why they fell in Tongtian River was that Guanyin Bodhisattva deliberately made them experience another difficulty. Only the old turtle in Tongtianhe is responsible for this task, because the former Lingjue King has been taken away by Guanyin, and only the old turtle remains in Tongtianhe, and the old turtle has every reason to make Tang Yan's team suffer, because he already knows that Tang Yan didn't help Tathagata ask that question.

In fact, even if Tang Yan did ask the old turtle that question, the old turtle would still throw Tang Yan into the water. Why? Look how wonderful the old turtle's question is! The old turtle asked when he could become a man, but after the Buddhist scriptures, the old turtle asked Tang Yan what his life insurance was.

I've seen shameless people, but I've never seen such an old turtle. Even when the Tang Priest asked the old tortoise when it would become a human form, people changed their minds and said, I'm not asking you this question, I'm asking how long I plan to live. Tang Priest can't go back and ask questions, so whether Tang Priest asks Tathagata or not, this old turtle on Tongtian River will throw him into the water. In fact, the Monkey King knows best. In chapter 99 of the original book, the monkey thinks:

Why do you think he said he couldn't drive? If you are willing to tell the secret of flying with your magical power, your disciples will cross 1000 rivers. I am detained here because I know in my heart that there are still problems before the Tang Priest's number 99 is counted.

Because of the lack of this difficulty, Wufang just caught up with the Eight donkey kong near Tongtian River, so only the old tortoise in Tongtian River acted as a difficulty, so whether Tang Yan asked this question or not, the old tortoise's mission must be completed, so the old tortoise threw Tang Yan and the scriptures into the river, and the Monkey King had long been prepared. Pig Bajie and Friar Sand are very good at water, and the dragon horse itself is a dragon. Only the Tang Priest and the Buddhist scriptures are miserable.
