King Zhao of Chu is a master worshiped by Confucius. Why did Confucius praise him?

Recovering from the danger of national subjugation, the national strength of Chu gradually became stronger. But the war between Chu and Wu was not over. The shame of Wu's entering the palace lingers, and the sad memory torments King Zhao and Chu. In the autumn of 489 BC, the war between Wu Chu reached an impasse. King Zhao of Chu was exhausted and his illness became more and more serious.

When he stood on the wall and looked west, he saw a red cloud on one side of the sun for three days. In Chu, where witchcraft is prevalent, the first thing that comes to mind when encountering various special natural phenomena is divination. After divination, Master Zhou sent someone to tell King Zhao Chu that there were red clouds on one side of the sun for three consecutive days. This sign indicates that the king of Zhao and Chu will encounter great disaster. The only way is to hold a "disaster sacrifice" and use magic to transfer the disaster to Lingyin, Sima and other ministers.

Supposedly, an ordinary monarch would gladly accept this suggestion. Why? A monarch is the king of a country. It is normal for him to pass on his own disaster to other officials to save himself. But ... King Zhao and Chu resolutely refused. King Zhao of Chu said: transfer the illness in my heart to my arm, and my arm is still on me. In other words, my minister is a part of my body, which I strongly disagree with.

King Zhao of Chu refused to pass on his misfortune to his ministers. When Confucius heard this, he praised King Zhao of Chu for his generosity and understanding. Soon, King Zhao of Chu died of illness, but the regime was successfully transferred to his son King Hui of Chu. His brothers wholeheartedly helped his nephew to continue Wang Zhao's farming and living policies, and the rising momentum of Chu appeared again.
