What does earthly branch mean?

Earthly branch refers to the twelve parts into which Jupiter's orbit is divided. The twelve branches include: Zi (zǐ), Ugly (chǐu), Yin (yín), Mao (m ǐ o), Chen (chén), Si (si), Wu (), Wei (wèi) and Shen (shēn).
