What does cos mean?

COS is the abbreviation of English Cosplay, which means role-playing. It refers to putting on costumes of various characters and acting as characters in works, including animation, comics, video games, visual orchestral music and puppet shows in Taiwan Province Province.

Role-playing began in Japan. The starting point of dressing up is to love the characters in each work, and through role-playing, let the characters who originally existed only in the imaginary world appear in the real world.

The name of Cosplay originated from Hiroshi Misawa, the convener of ComicMarket in 1978, who wrote an article for field magazine, and pointed out the behavior of dressing up as an anime character with costumeplay, which was expressed by Japanese animator Nobuzhi Gao Qiao at the World Science Fiction Annual Conference held in Los Angeles in 1984.

Contemporary Cosplay is usually regarded as a sub-cultural activity, and its target characters generally come from animation, comics, video games, light novels, movies, photo albums, special editions, idol groups, occupations, historical stories, social stories, legendary and unique things in the real world (or their anthropomorphic forms), or other self-created tangible characters. The method is to deliberately put on similar clothes and imitate these characters with the collocation of props, makeup modeling, body language and other parameters.
