Arthur Edward Waite was born in America. His father was an American citizen, but he died when he was very young. His mother, emma lovell, is an Englishman who returned to England after her husband's death and believed in Roman Catholicism.

Waite's family was poor when he was a child. His first education was in a private primary school in the north of London. After he 13 years old, he transferred to St. Charles College. After graduation, he became a clerk and often wrote short poems in his spare time, but soon after, because of his sister's death, he was pushed to the direction of occult research. At the age of 2 1, he began to frequent the British Museum to study mysticism.

When he was nearly 30 years old, he married Ada Lekman and had a daughter. Later, Ada died in 1924, and he married Mary broadbent Scofield for the second time. He spent most of his life in and around London, and even published a small magazine "Unknown World" when he was young.

Later, I met Samuel liddell McGregor Mathers in the British Museum, but I never liked him. Waite and his first wife began to study mysticism in Isis-Urana, but because Ada was not interested and Waite failed one of his tests, some people thought that his awakening might have originated here. In Waite's book The Shadow of Life and Thought (1938), his friend and doctor Dr. Burridge advised him to give up, but a year or two later, he was persuaded by another friend, Robert Palmer Thomas, to return to the field of mysticism. He continued to study the occult and exert influence.

Wei wrote the famous book The Key to the Tarot Card (19 10), and translated Elifas Levi's works on mysticism and alchemy. Witt finally died in 1942.
