A brief introduction to the origin and formation of Taoism
Worship comes from nature. China ancestors worshipped nature and ghosts and gods, and divination, which communicated the wishes of human beings and gods, prevailed. This primitive religion gradually evolved into the worship of "heaven" or "god" and ancestor worship during the Yin and Zhou Dynasties. By the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, ancient religions had undergone remarkable rational evolution, which was different from social and cultural knowledge. Hundred schools of thought, including Taoism, Confucianism, Mohism (the three are also called "Jesuits"), Yin and Yang, and Immortals. It has far-reaching influence in the history of culture.
The conditions for its formation reached the Han Dynasty, when there was an urgent need for religion, Confucianism became religious and Buddhism was introduced at this time. Under this social background, the ideological trend of advocating Huang Lao at that time was integrated with various thoughts, and gradually integrated with traditional worship of ghosts and gods, immortal thoughts, yin and yang magic numbers and so on. Thus prepared the necessary ideological conditions for the formation of Taoism, the "root" of China culture.
By the time Taoism was founded, the early Taoist classic Taiping Jing had been written. In the first year of Han 'an (142), the "orthodox school law" and the "orthodox school alliance" were collected, so they went to Shu to promote the "orthodox school" (commonly known as "five-door rice road"). He established the "Twenty-four Festival Ambassadors", widely accepted believers, formulated rules and regulations, and formed the first Sect in Taoism. It was at this time that Taoism was formally founded. Later, in Guanghe (178- 184), Zhang Jiao spread "Taiping Dao" in the East and established the "Thirty-six Square" Taoist organization.
