Brief introduction of Waite's inventor

Arthur Edward Waite 18 10- 1875)

Arthur Edward Witt was born in 1857. He is a famous British mystic and a member of the famous mystic group "Golden Dawn". His most famous representative work is a deck of tarot cards, "Le Dewit" tarot cards (everyone should be familiar with it), and this deck can probably be called the most famous tarot card in the 20th century, with numerous versions ...

Arthur Edward Witt was born in America. His father was an American citizen, but he died when he was very young. His mother, Emma Lovell, is an Englishman who returned to England after her husband's death and believed in Roman Catholicism.

Waite's family was poor when he was a child. His first education was in a private primary school in the north of London. After he 13 years old, he transferred to St. Charles College. After graduation, he became a clerk and often used his spare time to write short poems to amuse himself (people don't waste their youth), but soon after, because of his sister's death, he was pushed to the direction of occult research. At the age of 2 1, he began to frequent the British Museum to study mysticism.

When he was nearly 30 years old, he married Ada Lekman and had a daughter. Later, Ada died in 1924, and he married Mary broadbent Schofield for the second time. He spent most of his life in and around London, and even published a small magazine "Unknown World" when he was young.

Later, I met Samuel liddell McGregor Mathers in the British Museum, but I never liked him. Waite and his first wife began to study mysticism in Isis-Urana, but because Ada was not interested and Waite failed one of his tests, some people thought that his awakening might have originated here. In Waite's record Shadow of Life and Thought (1938), his friend and doctor Dr. Burridge advised him to give up, but a year or two later, he was rejected by another friend, Robert Palmer Thomas. He continued to study the occult and exert influence.

The tarot cards he created have always been called' (Ryder-Waiter, Ryder or' (Waiter-Smith Tarot Card, because Ryder is the publisher of this deck. This deck was designed and conceived by Pamela Coleman Smith. Its innovation lies in the design of ackner Jr.' s pattern, which is similar to the meaning of divination (Note 2), which makes people think of it at first sight without memorizing the meaning of ex. Token 2. He also changed the positions of traditional power cards (1 1) and justice cards (8) to power cards (8) and justice cards (1 1), and all the explanations of his cards were written in a book he wrote, the key of tarot cards (6544). Witt also translated Elifas Levi's works on mysticism and alchemy. Finally, Waite died in 1942.

Note: Isis-Venus Temple is a place where mysticism beginners learn. After its test and trial, they can obtain the officially recognized mysticism identity and qualification.

Note 2: here Yas wants to correct a mistake. Because of Yas's lack of knowledge, I didn't know it until recently when I was working hard. In fact, it was not Ryder Vittarot who initiated the design of alker Jr. into a pattern similar to divination. But in15th century's Sorabska Tarot Card (translated by the Paper Museum as "15th century Tarot Card"), we can see its little Alkell, which is designed as a story. Because this little Alkell designed by tarot cards is considered unfriendly and rough, it is not easy to inspire when divining, so it is gradually forgotten. It was not until Pamela Coleman Smith, the painter of Ryder Vitaro, referred to this card and improved the design that it was gradually adopted.
