The mord in his hand is also called "Zhang Xi", with nine chains at the top. When the Tibetan Bodhisattva shakes Zhang Xi, it will open the door of heaven or hell. Therefore, this Zen saying is quoted here to illustrate the truth of cause and effect, and at the same time, it also shows that all karma is caused by oneself. The following "be lenient with others, be strict with yourself, and sit in the lotus in the future" is easier to understand, that is, to become a Buddha, we must start with being lenient with others and be strict with ourselves. Because the road to becoming a Buddha is a process of introspection.
