Who was Xiang Yu's counselor at the Hongmen Banquet?

Xiang Yu's counselor at the Hongmen banquet was "father" Fan Zeng.

Fan Zeng (277-204 BC), a famous politician in the late Qin Dynasty, was the main counselor of Xiang Yu, the overlord of the Western Chu Dynasty. He is a native of Juyan (now Yafu Township, Juchao District, Chaohu City, Anhui Province, Liantan City, Anhui Province), and his uncle Xiang Liang took refuge in Xiang Yu after the peasant uprising broke out at the end of Qin Dynasty. After Xiang Liang was killed, he followed Xiang Yu and became his important counselor. Later, Xiang Yu was appointed as the "father". Fan Zeng advocated that Xiang Yu killed Liu Bang, but it was never adopted by Xiang Yu. After the plot to assassinate Liu Bang at the Hongmen Banquet failed, Xiang Yu became suspicious because of the alienation of Chen Ping, Liu Bang's adviser. He returned to his hometown in anger and died of gangrene on the way.
