About Zhuan Xu, the Northern Heaven Emperor.

Zhuan Xu (zhuān xū) (2342- 2245 BC), surnamed Ji, Levin, grandson of the Yellow Emperor and son of Changyi. Leader of ancient tribal alliance, one of the "Five Emperors" and one of the founders of mankind.

Zhuan Xu assisted Shao Hao, and the fief was in Levin (now Levin Town, Qi County, Kaifeng City, Henan Province), hence the name Levin. After Shao Hao's death, he defeated Gong Shi, who was vying for the throne, and became the leader of the tribal alliance, calling himself "Levin's". After Zhuan Xu's death, Di Ku, the great grandson of the Yellow Emperor, succeeded to the throne. In the myths and legends handed down from generation to generation, Zhuan Xu is the God who is in charge of the North. According to Records of the Five Emperors, Zhuan Xu: "Yuan Jing is a governor with a plan and a dredge".

Legend has it that in the late years of Emperor Xuanyuan, Jiuli believed in witchcraft, worshiped ghosts and gods, and abandoned personnel. Everything is decided by divination. People's family engaged in divination as a witch history, people no longer sincerely worship heaven and are not at ease in agricultural production. In order to solve this problem, Zhuan Xu decided to reform religion and personally offered sacrifices to the ancestors of heaven and earth, which set an example for all peoples. He also appointed Nan Zhongzheng to make sacrifices to heaven in order to reconcile with the gods. Bei Lizheng was appointed to be in charge of civil affairs to comfort all the people, persuade them to follow the laws of nature and engage in agricultural production, and encourage them to reclaim land. It is forbidden to associate people with God through divination, so as to restore normal social order.

Zhuan Xu gave birth to Shun's great-grandfather Qiong Chan. According to legend, Zhuan Xu reigned for 78 years and was buried in Puyang at the age of 98. The King of Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period was his descendant. After Qu Yuan claimed to be the emperor Zhuan Xu in Lisao, Qu Yuan and the King of Chu were a family. Smart Minhui, resourceful, has a high prestige among the people. The ruling territory is also much larger, reaching Heilongjiang in the north, Lingnan in the south and the East China Sea in the east. According to ancient history, everywhere Zhuan Xu went, he was warmly received by tribal people.
