What is the structure of Sikuquanshu?

1. First, use the traditional quartile of classics and historical subsets, that is, the quartile of Sikuquanshu: classics-cultural roots, especially Confucian classics and Confucian works that explain these classics; History department-documentary, that is, compiling all kinds of history books; Sub-discipline-ideological category, which is compiled by a hundred schools of thought, that is, philosophical books; Collection-literature, that is, compiling literary books. Ancient natural sciences were underdeveloped and belonged to the Ministry. The significance of book classification is to put all books in a relatively fixed position in the whole knowledge, so as to show the responsibility of each book in the whole knowledge. At the very least, let many books have a track to follow in placement and inspection, so as not to be at a loss or be searched everywhere. Under this requirement, there are more than 10,000 kinds of descriptive books and bibliographic books in Sikuquanshu, which can not be achieved simply by dividing them into four parts. So they had to be divided into several "classes" under the four ministries, and some even had to be divided into several "genera" under one class. For example, the classic details in Sikuquanshu are: Yi, Shu, Poetry, Rites (Zhou Rites, Yi Rites, Book of Rites, Three Rites, Tong Rites and Miscellaneous Rites), Spring and Autumn Period, Filial Piety, Five Classics, Four Books, Music, and Primary School (Exegesis, Word Books and Rhyme Books). I collected many times more books than its connotation by means of large-scale collection, and systematically selected 3470 kinds, representing the knowledge world at that time. 3. Proofread and copy in a more accurate way, and organize it in an all-encompassing classification that was considered appropriate at that time, so as to make it orderly and form the whole knowledge that was considered at that time. 4. Every book has a "summary", which ranks first in the whole book. This "summary" states many questions about this book. On the one hand, this abstract has fully shown that every original work in Sikuquanshu is a unit; And itself, it is also a constituent unit of the whole knowledge at that time. 5. Except for the top of the book, all the abstracts are combined according to the category of each book, so that these abstracts become an independent album, named "Summary of the General Contents of Sikuquanshu". The classification of each category and the general description of each department are its comprehensive Sikuquanshu Table and Sikuquanshu Model, which makes Sikuquanshu not only the original work, but also the whole knowledge world at that time under the general name. In a word, although the compilation of Sikuquanshu follows the traditional four subsets of classics and history, its classification and subtitle are more detailed than in the past.
