It is pointed out that businessmen worship ghosts and Zhou people worship ancestors. What is the basis?

First, businessmen are still ghosts. Everything needs to be divined by God, and God will ask before deciding whether it is feasible. The objects of divination offered by Shang people in Yin Dynasty can be divided into three categories: gods, earthly gods and ghosts. God includes (above) emperor, grandson, mother east, mother west, cloud, wind, rain and so on. The earth includes society, quartet, four witches, mountains and rivers, etc. People and ghosts mainly refer to the first king, the first public, the first clever and so on. Ancestor worship is the main object of sacrifice and prayer.

Second, Zhou people not only believed that the souls of ancestors had the ability to eliminate disasters and pray for blessings, but also matched the sky. Therefore, the ancestor god has achieved a clear position on an equal footing with heaven in form, and has become the subject of sacrifice in essence. In addition, Zhou people thought that the monarch was the son of heaven, but due to the impermanence of Ding (Yin Ge, Xia Ming and Yin Si of Zhou Dynasty), it felt that the sky was unreliable and its will was elusive, so it could only follow the typical virtues of the former king, so the theory of sacrifice based on "respecting morality" came into being.
