Mixed Formula-Blue Moon Blue Moon
1.5 oz Plymouth gin
1 oz dry absinthe
1 teaspoon? Yvette violet liqueur
Two drops? Orange bitter essence
1/4 oz soft red wine.
working methods
Put the ingredients except red wine into a mixing cup, add ice cubes and stir.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Gently pour the red wine into the cocktail with a bar spoon.
Remarks:
Plymouth gin is better than dry gin in this martini-style drink, while Dorian dry absinthe is very in line with the retro taste of Kremevitt.
Like aviation? Similarly, Blue Moon was an early adopter of violet liqueur. The first formula of this drink appeared in Hugo Ensslin's 19 17 Mixed Beverage Formula, and it is also one of the few cocktails that need floating red wine.
In the post-Prohibition editions, Maraschino and Cremed violette were often replaced by Cremmer Yvette.
