China Renmin University English Interpretation Professional Postgraduate Entrance Examination Sharing?
1, background of postgraduate entrance examination (motivation, reason)
Let me introduce myself first. I am a first-class undergraduate in science, and a three-span candidate who came ashore as an interpreter at the National People's Congress in World War I. If you are a cross-candidate, if you are experiencing psychological pressure or external doubts brought by the cross-exam, then maybe my experience can give you encouragement.
(1) Reasons for Postgraduate Entrance Examination: Postgraduate Entrance Examination, like the college entrance examination, is a hurdle in life. Everyone chooses the postgraduate entrance examination for different reasons. I chose the postgraduate entrance examination because I didn't want to work. Well, it's actually an escape from the social workplace. I still think the school is good. Second, because I wanted to change my life, I didn't get high marks in the college entrance examination. After I went to college, I felt more and more the chain of discrimination in society (985>211> Double first-class > one book > two books), so I want to be admitted to a prestigious school through the postgraduate entrance examination and change the label of "low-quality students"; Thirdly, because I am tired of undergraduate major, I want to engage in and study a more interesting field-interpretation.
(2) School-choosing experience: The reasons for choosing NPC are complicated. The story goes back to Tomb-Sweeping Day last year ... because I'm from the north, the schools I consider are basically in Beijing. Last year in Tomb-Sweeping Day, my mother and I went to Beijing and visited some schools I was considering. We went to Beijing Language first, and the campus was not big. Then I went to the next stop, Beiwai, and slipped into the simultaneous interpretation classroom of Van Gogh College. After that, I will take a bus to prepare for the Foreign Affairs College. On the way, we passed the National People's Congress. Fate is actually amazing. It took only a few seconds to pass by the gate of the National People's Congress, but I can still remember that scene. I have never considered this school before, whether it is the college entrance examination or the postgraduate entrance examination. I subconsciously think it's a little far away for me. However, when I went back to the university to buy information to confirm the school, I suddenly remembered the moment on the bus, and I asked myself why I had never considered a comprehensive college like NPC. Later, I checked the relevant information of the National People's Congress, and found that the postgraduate major of the National People's Congress has only been opened for four years, and the examination style is relatively small, and the number of applicants is small (the number of students enrolled is relatively small), and the proportion of re-examination is significant (my oral English is better, so the re-examination score is more advantageous than that of major universities), and I don't value undergraduate schools. In addition, there is a saying that there are four famous schools in Beijing, which are called "Northern Youth Teachers". Tsinghua Peking University dare not think. If Beijing Normal University has a bachelor's degree, then the National People's Congress will be my destination. Ha ha.
2. Postgraduate entrance examination experience
I also experienced hesitation, confusion and loneliness when I chose the cross-exam. When I prepare for the final exam next semester, I am really tired of learning. I put down my pen and began to think about life. Why should I work so hard to learn what I don't want to learn and waste my life? Then I began to think about what I like and what I am good at. I visited xx and saw simultaneous interpretation. Suddenly, a light bulb lit up in my mind, which seemed to find the direction of life. I began to frantically collect information about interpreting for postgraduate entrance examination. At first, my teachers, classmates, former seniors and even my English teacher didn't advise me to take the exam, and it was such a difficult major. But sometimes I'm stubborn, I'm not convinced, and I can't let go. For the first time in my life, I bravely want to pursue a dream and don't want to give up so easily. So I began to prepare for the exam by myself, asking senior English majors for information and buying all kinds of books. The books I bought at the beginning were in a mess, and some books have not been opened yet. And at that time, I only knew that I was going to Beijing Foreign Studies University, and I was bent on getting the best exam. At that time, Beijing Foreign Studies University had not issued the policy of not taking two exams in 2022. I also signed up for a Japanese class and learned one Japanese. Now that I think about it, I was really stupid and impulsive. Because it is still early, my will is often not firm. In my junior year, I thought of both postgraduate entrance examination and cross-examination at the same time, so I became a professional course for undergraduate students and began to teach myself translation. Maybe it started too early, and then there was a period of depravity. During the summer vacation of junior year, I really devoted myself to preparing for the exam, occupying a seat in the study room, arriving at the study room at 7 am every day and returning to my residence at 10 pm. At that time, I reviewed with my roommates in the dormitory, but I didn't find any research friends with the same major. I just study bit by bit according to my own plan. Summer vacation passes quickly, so we must grasp this golden period, especially for me. Because of the compulsory arrangement of the college, I will go to Beijing for an internship for 9 months in September, so the study progress in September and 10 is very slow. Doing experiments in the laboratory during the day, you can only read books in the morning, lunch break and after work at night, even when preparing for the second interview later. And suddenly I came to a strange environment, my mood became complicated and heavy, and I had to force myself to study at the only time every day. Until the beginning of 1 1, I asked for leave from my teacher in the laboratory and returned to school to prepare for the exam in less than two months. Now that I think about it, my initial exam preparation process is really full of obstacles.
The last two months of review is a stage of nervous anxiety and crying. Open your eyes every morning and cheer yourself up first. You should stick to it no matter what. I am a science student, and politics has always been very bad, so I spend more time on politics every day. Because of the slow progress in the early stage, the focus of review in the last two months is basically politics, encyclopedia and translation. Half a morning reciting politics or terminology, and the second half practicing translation; Recite the composition in the afternoon, and translate and brush the political multiple-choice questions in the afternoon; Listen to political lessons and learn encyclopedias in the evening.
The night before the exam, I was really worried about politics until 1 am. At that time, I began to complain that I didn't work harder. I usually have insomnia, too. I prayed for a good sleep these two days, but I still couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned until five o'clock in the morning and got up at seven o'clock to go to the examination room by bus. That day, I finished two professional courses with those two hours' sleep. ...
I was so nervous the day the preliminary test results came out. In fact, I have always felt that I have passed the exam, and I am sure that I will not pass the exam if I have not reviewed enough. But when I saw the results, I was shocked and tears could not help falling. At that time, I was sitting in my office at work, wiping tears and laughing at the computer. But after I was happy, I calmed down and found that the score of the postgraduate entrance examination is expected to rise this year, so the score of 356 is very embarrassing, because the retest line of the National People's Congress last year was just 355. So I cleaned up my mood and began to do B while doing A, preparing for the second interview, watching the adjustment and taking care of the experimental work. Life is always so hard. ...
In this way, it lasted less than 20 days, and the National People's Congress announced the retest line, which may be really lucky. This year's retest line is still 355! I can't describe the excitement. The retest line just sent an email to apply for adjustment on the same day. Before I got excited, I quickly began to prepare for the second interview, because there were only six days left before the second interview. So I quickly suspended the adjustment and concentrated on preparing for the second interview. Check notices in the morning, print documents, prepare resumes and practice translation; Afternoon and evening are used to practice interpretation. During that time, I also caught a cold, practiced for a long time every day, and got pharyngitis ... so when preparing for the second interview, I need to pay attention to skin care, protect my voice and keep in good health.
The day of the second interview was also a fierce battle. I got up before six o'clock, simply tidied up and ran out with a stationery certificate to catch the subway. When I arrived at the National People's Congress, it was only twenty minutes before the exam, and I was shivering with cold when I waited on a cloudy day. I began to enter the interview stage at 1: 30 pm, because I was the last translator, and I waited in the waiting room until almost four o'clock before I was called for an interview. The waiting time for the listening test is even longer. In the end, the examination room was gone, leaving only me, and I didn't leave the National People's Congress until nine o'clock in the evening.
From the beginning of the decision to cross the exam to the end of the second interview, I really experienced many difficulties along the way, and I don't know how many sleepless nights. I never told my family that I was fighting alone after I entered the National People's Congress for a second interview. I made up my mind to get the best results in the exam. If I failed, there was nothing to tell my parents, which would only increase my troubles. I'll never forget that I cried and called my mother to tell her how sad and moved I was during the whole second interview. There are many people to thank this year, but the most grateful is myself who has always insisted on not giving up.
3. Review suggestions for specialized courses and public courses.
First attempt
Politics (full score 100): 60.
The score was not high, lower than expected, and finally crossed the line, not bad. The reference books used include Xiao Xiurong's Exquisite Lectures, Xiao four shaw's Eight, Strong Grass in the Wind, Xu Tao's Video Class and Xu Tao's Reciting Notes.
Politics is not a specialized course, the minimum standard is enough, but for a science student like me, I still need to work harder and start studying as soon as possible. Moreover, the retest line of the National People's Congress is political, so students with high political scores have an advantage.
Basic English (full score 100): 73 points.
Because I haven't received systematic English learning training, this research is not high, so review it according to the basic three parts:
(1) Lexical grammar: Vocabulary is really important. Reciting words should be one thing that runs through the review of postgraduate entrance examination. Mainly based on TEM-8 (repeated memorization, repeated memorization), you can recite GRE again if you have spare capacity. Vocabulary accumulated from reading is also important. You can buy a vocabulary book or recite an app on your mobile phone to find your favorite way. Grammar uses the vocabulary and grammar (yellow) of Hua Yan College Four. I did it twice before and after. It's really practical. When you brush the questions, you must take notes and read them over and over again!
(2) Reading: When reading TEM-8+intensive reading of foreign periodicals, you must accumulate vocabulary in the article, form your own notes and recite them frequently; I believe that every student who has passed the exam knows the importance of foreign periodicals, and doing intensive reading accumulation of foreign periodicals on a regular basis is of great help to improve reading ability and vocabulary. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the types of questions, such as free translation and reading short answers this year, which should be the weak items of non-English majors.
(3) Composition: I used TEM-8 composition and IELTS chart composition. I took two compositions this year. A small composition is a descriptive picture, and a big composition is only 250 words, which is not difficult. In this part of the composition, whether it is a big composition or a small composition, it is necessary to summarize typical sentence patterns and writing structures to standardize writing.
Translation basis (full mark 150): 1 16.
(1) Entry translation: Chinese-English translation has 15 entry, and English-Chinese translation has 15 entry, which is very biased towards cultural sayings, such as backstabbing, moo Shu meat, walk-on and husband-wife relationship. In this regard, everyone can focus on preparation. When I prepare, I mainly rely on my senior's information, yellow book entries and online summaries (Miao Da translation, Xu Xufan said, etc. Don't take up too long during the exam. If you can't, try to translate it yourself, focusing on the translation of the following chapters.
(2) English-Chinese translation: This year's English-Chinese examination of the National People's Congress is an article on energy and environment, which is generally not difficult, but some technical terms are not well understood; It's difficult to translate Chinese into English. It's about science and superstition. There are many words such as gossip, divination, witchcraft and stargazing, and the examination time is tight. The translation part is the highlight, because I have no translation foundation, so I started to learn translation earlier. The first thing I learned was 12-day translation in Brother Five. I mastered some translation skills and took notes. Translation study notes are very important and can be used for repeated review during the whole learning process. After that, I mainly studied Zhuang Yichuan's A Concise Course of English-Chinese Translation. This book is very practical, and it is not too much to study it two or three times. I learned it from beginning to end before the summer vacation, did all the exercises, and then learned it again. Other exercise materials are mainly CATTI's three tricks. Find real questions from the internet and do them year after year. Learn to find common sentence patterns and habits in translation and remember them. After translation, you should carefully study the reference translation and compare it with your own translation. If there are similarities, you should encourage yourself, mark the better parts of the reference translation and read it often. If you have the energy, you can record these translation experiences and read them often.
Encyclopedia of China (full mark 150): 107.
This scientific research is lower than expected, and I am also worried about this topic when I review it. I started reviewing this subject in 10, and I can't remember too many knowledge points. This year, the National People's Congress continued the hodgepodge style. I basically don't understand the 25 multiple-choice questions. I have read some knowledge points but I can't remember them clearly. This year covers China literature, western literature, music, art and other fields. The books I use are Li Guozheng's Chinese Writing and Encyclopedia Knowledge (Essentials), 2000 Cultural Common Sense I Must Know, Notes for Senior Students and Yellow Book. In fact, you can find a lot of information, but the key is to turn over the book several times and remember it repeatedly. Some knowledge points will be forgotten no matter how many times you watch the exam. Practical writing and composition are all written by Bai Yanqing's official documents. I summarized the format of all the practical essay questions he introduced, practiced imitation writing, and found topics from the real questions in the yellow book to practice reciting model essays. The composition is only prepared for half a month, mainly by reading the model essays in the real questions and summarizing some examples.
Participate in the review
The preparation time for the written test retest is short, and there is not much energy allocated to the written test. The main thing is to find the yellow book and three real questions used before to practice, recite the composition of TEM-8, words and words!
Interview listening listening mainly includes listening more, getting up in the morning, eating at noon, listening before going to bed at night, changing BGM in life into English after reading it, and creating an English language environment; The most important thing is a professional interview. The most subjective impression of the re-examination teacher is that the interview has passed 20 minutes. According to my previous experience, I have prepared the following parts: resume, self-introduction, resume, question and answer. I bought Zou Deyan's Practical Guide to Interpreting Notes. According to the above instructions, I must practice the exam more so as not to get stage fright. When handing in the biography, you should also do it: three-point notes and seven-point brain notes; Fluency, no pause, no retranslation; Calm expression, full of gas field. Think of yourself as a translator of national leaders, with style. This year's resume doesn't introduce myself, so these two parts are useless. The question-and-answer session is also much more flexible than last year. The teacher has no fixed questions, and the teacher will ask you questions according to your answers, so you should find your own advantages when preparing and skillfully guide the teacher to the questions you prepared during the interview.
4. Encourage and guide schoolmates in 2020.
The situation of postgraduate entrance examination is getting worse every year. Students who decide to take the postgraduate entrance examination must adjust their mentality and be clear: the road ahead is bound to be difficult and may be full of thorns, but our determination will not fall. Don't insist on not giving up, don't ignore your own efforts, and don't doubt your own strength. Here is an overall postgraduate entrance examination plan for everyone:
April, May? Lay the foundation: words, translation theory, reading, grammar.
1 recite eight words, repeatedly;
Besides, I started reading translation theory books and did three translation exercises and reading. Do TEM-4's vocabulary and grammar.
June, September? Comprehensive review: words, translation basics+exercises, encyclopedia reference books, reading, English-Chinese composition, political knowledge points;
I began to recite English-Chinese translation. I memorized the English-Chinese translation entries in the Yellow Book and summarized them in my electronic materials. Read the Guardian, The Economist and other foreign periodicals, as well as government work reports, write down all the exams and form notes;
I also started reading. Three or four articles in two days, I used my eight days of reading to complete the accumulation in reading.
(3) And start practicing translation. I practice an English-Chinese translation and a Chinese-English translation every day, taking notes and summarizing translation skills.
There are two exams for English composition, one for freshman and one for junior, so I recite the model essay every day, and write with TEM-8 composition and IELTS chart.
As a science student, I began to study politics in the summer vacation. Read the theory book (intensive reading and concise) in cooperation with Xu Tao's online class, and brush 1000 questions.
6. See encyclopedia reference books (Li Guozheng).
October, November? Consolidation assault: words, translation exercises, encyclopedia+composition recitation, vocabulary recitation, political brush.
Adjust the plan according to your own actual situation, strengthen the intensity of doing the questions and reciting, and do the 1000 political questions before doing the fourth grade and the eighth grade.
/kloc-brush the questions steadily in 0/2 months: words, English-Chinese translation, translation exercises, encyclopedia+composition, reading and political recitation.
Politics is almost always review. I mainly recite Xiao Si's eight questions and Xu Tao's recitation notes. There are also my summary of translation skills, English-Chinese translation of entries, practical writing templates, and English composition model essays. I read them twice a day and recite words repeatedly every day. At this time, time is tight, and there is not enough time to do translation exercises every day, so I will review my previous exercises and sum up my experience instead. Then I went to war.
finally
What I wrote at the end is my personal words to all my schoolmates who read this experience post. Think carefully before you do anything. Think twice before you act. I am usually an impulsive person, but I also did a lot of self-analysis and planning when I took the postgraduate entrance examination.
1. First of all, you can protect your research, but you can't protect your research before you consider taking the postgraduate entrance examination, because it is really difficult.
2. If you take the postgraduate entrance examination, you can't let the undergraduate grades go unnoticed. Many schools will read undergraduate transcripts when they take the postgraduate entrance examination.
3. Correct self-analysis is the guarantee for choosing a suitable major for postgraduate entrance examination. No one knows yourself better than yourself. Think about what you want to study, what you want to do in the future, what you are best at, and which major has the best advantage for you ... all these issues should be carefully considered. If you don't know yourself, it's a good idea to go to work and explore the society first.
4. Pay attention to the problem of choosing a school. Whether it is correct or not will greatly affect the success of the postgraduate entrance examination. Don't worry, collect materials and college information online, and don't think about setting up the school in a week. I've been thinking about it for months
The most important thing is to devote yourself to the postgraduate entrance examination. The word "heart" is not that you are learning to input knowledge on the surface, but that you want to learn well and gain knowledge from your heart. So one sentence is right, interest is the biggest motivation for learning, no matter what you don't like, you can't learn. 6. When collecting information, you should have a certain judgment, don't be greedy, and you'd better find the most practical learning essence. With the progress of learning, you can supplement the information at any time, without buying it at the beginning.
Don't be afraid, don't panic. I can succeed in such a tortuous postgraduate course. Why can't you? Oil; Fuel filling; Make greater efforts
