The Origin of China Characters

There are two main questions about the origin of China characters:

First, the founder of the character and his era.

Many scholars have different opinions, but they all think that this time is about equivalent to the legendary period from the Five Emperors to Huang San.

The second is the method or way of writing creation.

On this issue, scholars of past dynasties expressed their opinions and lacked * * * knowledge, including:

1, the text comes from knotting. It is believed that writing was inspired by the ancient rule of the country by tying ropes.

2. Words begin with gossip. It is believed that characters originated from divination images of Yi Gua, such as divination heaven, divination land, divination water and divination fire.

Cang Xie thinks the tortoise is a book. People think that Cang Xie was inspired by Gui Ling to create characters.

4. Words and pictures are homologous. Think that the names of calligraphy and painting are different. In the early days of writing, books were also painted, and paintings were also books.

5. Text comes from pictures. It is considered that the two are not homologous, the picture comes first, the text comes last, and the text is produced on the basis of the picture.

6. Characters originated from the social practice of our ancestors. It is believed that the generation of words comes directly from the original method of taking notes.

7. China's Ci is in the west. People think that China's writing comes from West Asia or Egypt.

The above views on the origin of characters have not been widely understood in contemporary academic circles.
