Several long sword-shaped leaves grow on the spherical bulb of spider lily, which are dark green and thick, with prominent midvein on the back and many veinlets extending parallel to the midvein. In early summer, the underground bulbs began to grow oblate long flower stems with umbels at the top and light green bracts outside, wrapped in 4 ~ 10 flowers. As the flower grows bigger and bigger, the bracts break, revealing small white flowers with thin tubes and aromatic fragrance. Flowers grow up in turn and bloom from outside to inside. Perianth tube is cylindrical, with 6 perianth lobes, and white lines spread radially.

Chlorophytum was introduced and cultivated in China in the early 1980s.
