Learn from autumn leaves, open books

Recently, inspired by Uncle Akiba's How to Read a Book Effectively, I became interested in many thinking modes. In this book, Akiba analyzes how the content of a book is internalized into his own cognitive framework from different functional angles through some specific "open-book" examples, and finally falls into reality to solve problems in life. One of the sections is "Building a Thinking Model", and a book called "The Simplest Problem Solving Manual in History" (hereinafter referred to as "Manual") has been mentioned many times.

To tell the truth, I read this title several times before I got it right. At first glance, I felt very arrogant, because I was actually "flaunting" myself as "the simplest". This reminds me of The Book of Answers (Chinese name "The Book of Answers"), which was a hit a few years ago because Zhou Dongyu and Shawn Yue used it in reality shows. Now, Dangdang's online sales are quite good, ranking first in the "Dangdang Feng Shui/Divination List". On the back of the original English version of the book, I laughed while reading it in the bookstore, because it was too obvious: hold the book well, think carefully, start turning pages with one hand, and stop is the answer.

I think this kind of book can be used for recreation. Especially when a person's emotional storm has gained the upper hand and can't calm down and analyze the problem, you can sincerely hold your question and then open the book to see what (super) short answer is written in the middle of the page that is "predestined" with you. At this time, the human brain can often enrich and visualize the answer to this sentence (with great probability) and turn it into an answer to guide itself forward. It gives you a chance to "see the sky through the clouds" in your mind.

But even I, who is curious about new things, didn't bring this thick book back in the end.

Because you think that if a book can answer all the questions in the human mind, then the answer should be as general, general and concise as possible. Coupled with such a thick book, but there is only one line in the middle of each page, the rest are deliberately designed to make you focus on this answer, which actually gives you a clear-headed "illusion"-because in fact, when you close the book, most of you are still hesitant, ignorant and at a loss, but at this time you seem to have received a "hint" from "God". Will you adopt it?

However, now that we know the existence of the manual, especially after understanding its content, I think the previous books still don't have much market among people who prefer rationality.

Never mind what I say, everything I say may be wrong.

Anyway, today is a thinking model that touches me the most, which is called "technical cycle" in Chinese.

The content involved in the model itself is actually a little far from my "comfort zone". It is a set of research on the development stage after the emergence of world-class new technologies. When a new technology appears, people's reaction to it will generally go through five stages: technology pioneer stage, expected expansion stage, disillusionment stage, recovery stage and production platform stage.

Because of the limitation of this knowledge, I always thought that the name "technology cycle" seemed to be difficult to reach my heart. Later, I checked the original manual and turned to the page about this model, only to know that its English name is handsome and concise-Hype Cycle. Speculation has the word "hype"; The meaning of "hype" is that the cycle is the cycle, so I understand the meaning of this model in seconds.

After going to google, I went to official website, a Gartner consulting company, and found that there was a "hype cycle of emerging technologies, 20 16", in which the emerging technologies and their development stages up to 20 16 were listed and analyzed in detail. I just blushed suddenly, so there was an annual report!

However, after all, there are many technical terms in new technology, so I searched the Chinese translation and comments of this analysis report on Baidu with the mentality of giving it a try. Wow ~ Sure enough, at this time, mother tongue materials are added as supplementary understanding, and the effect is great!

At this point, as an English teacher, I would like to interject a few words excitedly: knowing a foreign language tool can really provide you with another way to open information and help you get in touch with some difficult information from another angle. Nowadays, many excellent books have been translated into Chinese, and it is inevitable that information will be lost in the process of translation. However, if you master effective information search methods, you can know what you are interested in by reading the original text, and the language conversion is less, and the information deviation may be less. Moreover, from the perspective of English grammar books, more and more English educators are beginning to agree that the original grammar books are more easy to understand and grounded than Chinese grammar books.

When you get used to acquiring knowledge in another language, you actually see the world in a different way.

But what makes me more enlightened is the way Uncle Akiba finally "opened the book". He actually used this curve to analyze his long-term capacity planning.

Recently, I have been trying to pull away from myself and reassess what my abilities are. It seems that I have never thought about this problem carefully.

So I took a gel pen and began to draw this model on A4 paper.

Then I changed a pencil and began to fill in my abilities at different stages.

Then I found that I couldn't write it.

I stared at the blank model for a few minutes. At this time, I found that I didn't understand Uncle Akiba's landing analysis as expected. So I opened the book again to see the wording he used, how to describe these dimensions of his personal abilities, and what characteristics these abilities have respectively corresponding to these development periods.

Finally, after 40 minutes of struggle, struggle and thinking, after decomposing and analyzing the ability I have exercised in my work for three years, I finally got a preliminary satisfactory personal ability dimension curve.

Technology Pioneer Stage: Time Management, Communication and Writing

Expectation inflation period: classroom activity design, teaching competition

Disillusionment period: language learning

Production platform period: mass interaction, teaching-assisted production (slowly rising); Logical thinking, collecting and integrating information, imitating (even)

More notably, this is a model that will change with time. Considering that my working years are still short, university teaching itself is not heavy, and I need efficient time arrangement and self-discipline study to make my ability grow rapidly.

In a word, the thinking mode from the manual is plain. When you understand the principle, it is actually "simple". However, if we want to analyze our own specific problems, this transformation process still needs to be considered. The more we usually accumulate, the easier it is to build a bridge between them quickly.

At least it took me a long time to graft for the first time, but I couldn't stop my growing curiosity.

That's interesting.
