After about 2-4 hours, the mature nymph-cicada monkey will shed its skin and become an adult-cicada. Cicada still feeds on sap. In hot summer, it makes a very noisy sound in the tree.

Egg collection: When the weather is clear, female cicadas usually lay eggs on the annual branches of leafy willow and apple trees, especially on the branches of white willow. After laying eggs, the branches will wither within 3 ~ 10 days. Careful observation shows that there are granular eggs attached to the dead branches, and there are about 50 ~ 100 cicada eggs on an egg branch. If you have the patience to feed on eggs, take the branches attached to the eggs and use them as hatched seedlings.

Planting location: branches can be buried in the garden, preferably willow forest, old apple orchard and wicker-covered river beach. But not in a flowerpot. 2 ~ 3 egg branches can be planted per square meter. Soil quality requires no desertification, no hardening, no ants and moles, and loose and humid loam areas. You can also choose the place where there were more cicadas and monkeys last year as the place to plant egg branches.

Harvesting: After 2-3 years of planting egg branches, cicada monkeys begin to grow and mature gradually. In the summer solstice every year, it will drill to a place about 10 cm away from the surface, waiting for the right time to drill out of the ground. Soaking in the rain is convenient for cicada monkeys to start drilling out of the ground at 4 ~ 5 o'clock in the morning, or drill out of the ground at any time after the rain stops. After drilling out of the ground, you will soon find wicker or trunk to climb up, ready to shed your shell in the right place. After 2 ~ 4 hours, it will shed its skin and become a cicada. According to this characteristic of cicada monkeys, if there is no rain and drought after the summer solstice every year, the farm land can be artificially watered before cicada monkeys are unearthed or mature to attract cicada monkeys to be unearthed. A smooth plastic film can be wrapped around the trunk 30 cm above the ground. When the cicada monkey climbs on the plastic film, it will stop the cicada monkey from climbing the tree and turn into a cicada to harvest.
