The relationship between Fang and Taoism

Fang, or immortals, is a kind of person who specialized in alchemy, witchcraft and other Taoism formed during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Including astronomy, medicine, immortals, divination, physiognomy, feng shui and other skills, and promote diet and sacrifice to those who can live forever. According to the records of historians, the earliest alchemist was Changhong of Zhou Lingwang (5765438 BC+0 BC-545 BC). It is said that he can understand yin and yang and know ghosts and gods. Fang Xiandao is different from later Taoism, and there is no organization in itself. The name of Fang Xiandao comes from Sima Qian's Historical Records: "For Fang Xiandao, relying on heaven and ghosts." Qin Shihuang and Emperor Wudi reached their zenith.

Taoism, which originated in ancient China during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, is a primitive religious form of polytheism. Its main purpose is to pursue immortality, achieve immortality, and help the world and save people. It occupies an important position in China's ancient traditional culture and develops actively in the modern world. Although Taoism has been one of hundred schools of thought since the Warring States Period, it deified the philosopher who originally took morality as the core concept. It was not until the middle and late Han Dynasty that cults appeared. Zhang Ling is a monk in Hemingshan, Yizhou (present-day Sichuan). He founded Shi Tiandao, believed in Laozi as the old gentleman of the throne, and established Twenty-four Governance as a missionary area. By the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the religious form of Taoism was gradually improved.

Dante School is an important school of Taoism (the general name of all Taoist schools that seek immortality mainly through alchemy), which was initiated by ancient immortals and Fang. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the Dante School further developed the immortal Taoism of the then school and made a theoretical summary. The early theoretical work of Dante School is Zhouyi Shentongqi.
