The current competition system of the Premier League

The Premier League adopts the double-cycle system of home and away games, with each team playing twice, and the host and guest playing once. Starting from the season of 1995/96, the number of participating teams has been reduced from 22 to 20, with each team playing 38 games, home and away 19.
