Yin-yang theory regards Yin-yang as two kinds of coordinated forces within things, and it is considered as the generation law of all things. This is exactly what Laozi said about the concept of the world: "Tao gives birth to one, two, three and everything." Everything is negative and holds yang, and it is harmonious. With the complexity of the world, the simple way of thinking when everything is divided into two can no longer explain what is happening in front of us. Thus, a new way of thinking, such as "Eight Diagrams", is derived, which is used to express the movement and changes of Yin and Yang, and to express various natural phenomena, and can be used to calculate the passage of time, natural changes and various opportunities in life. The wise ancients then arranged the explanations of these phenomena into the Book of Changes, and the reference book handed down to this day in the Zhou Dynasty is the Book of Changes. The "Five Elements Theory" is developed from Jin Mu's theory that five basic substances, fire, water and earth, are "constantly changing in cycles". By studying the theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements, we can draw up a calendar from the calculation of celestial movement and master everything in the world. Later, astronomers, calendar experts and five-element experts specializing in celestial bodies were developed.

In the 6th century A.D., China's theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements was introduced into Japan by mixing Taoist incantations and esoteric occupations. After landing in Japan, it infiltrated many local cultures and formed a unique "Yin-Yang Road". However, it was already the tenth century when this term officially appeared in Japanese historical materials. At this time, Yin-Yang Tao is different from China's early thought of Yin-Yang. He believes in Buddhism and considers the coordination of Yin and Yang and the five elements when formulating the "Twelve Ranks of Crown" and clothing colors, which has a great influence on Japanese society. Since then, Yin and Yang teachers have become a popular "profession" and entered a period of all-round prosperity.
