Halloween or Halloween' en (abbreviated as All Hallows' Eve), also known as All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is a celebration held in some countries on June 3rd1day, that is, the eve of Halloween feast for western Christians. It began with a three-day Halloween prayer, which is the time in the church calendar to commemorate the dead, including the deaths of saints, martyrs and all believers.

It is generally believed that many Halloween traditions may have originated from the pagan Celtic Harvest Festival, especially the Gaelic Samhain Festival, and then turned this festival into Halloween. However, some scholars support the view that Halloween started as an independent and complete Christian festival.

Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or related disguises), attending Halloween masquerade, carving pumpkins into pumpkin lanterns, lighting bonfires, biting apples (putting apples in pots or vats filled with water, players will float them on the water with their teeth), divination, pranks, visiting haunted places, telling ghost stories and watching horror movies. In many parts of the world, "Halloween" Christian religious ceremonies, including attending church services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead, are still very popular, although in other places it is a more commercial and secular celebration. Historically, some Christians gave up meat on Halloween. This tradition is reflected in some foods of this festival, including apples, potato cakes and soul cakes.
