Ancient Norse Rune Magic —— Creation of Magic Symbols of World Stars
The picture shows the alphabet of ancient runes (from Gardrat Bok of Stephen flowers).

The "Star of the World" described in this paper is a classic rune binding rune. The most classic example is a magical symbol called the helmet of awe in Gardrat Bok, an Icelandic magic book (pictured).
World Star cannot be disassembled, because the runes used will overlap with the creative elements of magic symbols, and it is impossible to know which runes are used specifically.
Next, we will discuss the creation process of the world star by creating magic symbols with examples.
Before we begin to create runes, we must first make clear what our purpose and intention are. For example, we will build a "steering wheel" below, which can strongly radiate magic energy to the objective universe through spokes in magic symbols.
We will use the basic creative elements of the magic symbol of the World Star (pictured) and an ancient Nordic rune spirit number spell called luwatuwa, namely Laguz, Uruz, Wunjo, Ansuz, Tyr, Uruz, Wunjo and Ansuz. The total value of these eight runes is 66, and 66 can be decomposed into 6 and 16544.
This spell is quoted from Ed Thorson's Foursac: A Handbook of Runic Magic on page 103.
Translation:
"... There are two ways to disassemble the formula of runic spirit number, namely sum (sum of numbers corresponding to runes) and factorization (factorization of sum leads to deeper symbolic meaning) ... The runic number is 8(2*4) and 66 (6 *1). This formula appeared on the ancient amulet, which is a powerful spell with ideographic, phonetic and spiritual power. "
(We will discuss the Nordic spirit in detail in future posts. )

Then let's briefly introduce the components to be used.
In "The Magic of the North" by Ed Sorson, Ed Sorson explained that this type of rune consists of three fields. Figure A is a branch of runes, and three circles represent three fields. The first circle represents the inner, the second circle represents the subjective universe, and the third circle represents the objective universe. Runes will be placed where they need to be affected by spells.
Figure C is the bifurcation of a straight line, which represents the outward radiation of energy and prevents the energy from flowing back. The same is true of the sleek "double bifurcation", but compared with the former, it has a far-reaching impact, that is, it captures negative energy and prevents it from being transferred to the holder with the returned energy (Figure D). Figure E is a bifurcation much like algie's, which also represents the outward radiation of energy. Figure F shows the circle placed at the end of the bifurcation, which represents the cycle and automatic replenishment of energy. Figure G shows three straight lines to accelerate and amplify the energy flow in the rune. If the straight line shown in Figure G is added to the bifurcation shown in Figure C (Figure H), it is to prevent the loss of magical energy. The last structure (Figure 1) is a short arc, which is used to capture the returned energy and prevent it from hurting the user of the rune. Often used in the structure shown in Figure D or directly added to the second field (representing the subjective universe).

Then we begin the process of creation.
First, we put four straight branches with short lines on the branches with eight corners (as shown in the picture). At this point, it not only represents the radiation of energy, but also represents the lasting and stable operation of energy (which is why we don't use algie's simple bifurcation, we want to create a more lasting spell).

Then we will combine the individual runes. We keep the straight line of the first rune Laguz and do the left-right symmetry operation. The second rune Uruz is the same, but we will reverse it. And then combine them.
The reason for the reverse is that in the end, our runic energy is radiated to the outer universe, not sent back to the center of runic energy. Although this seems to reverse the influence of runes by reversing runes, in fact, the meaning of runes is given by "people", so its influence is not reversed by reversing runes. At the same time, according to the magic symbol-magic tradition of modern chaotic magic, they should maintain the "forward" attribute before mirror symmetry. Therefore, this mirror symmetry should also be included in the original spirit number formula to maintain their consistency.
1 1
After symmetry, Uruz and Laguz are combined to get Tyr. So, we have two runes left, they are Ansuz and Wunjo. Because they also appear in our spirit number formula, they should also be mirrored and placed under the combination of Uruz-Laguz-Tyre.

This combination will be placed in four untreated corners.
But our rune is not finished yet.
1 1
We will put four sleek "double forks" on the combination mentioned above to capture negative energy. At the same time, we will add three horizontal lines to the original four corners as energy accelerators and form Tyr runes to arouse victory and success.
1 1
Then this rune is really finished (as shown in the picture).

Let's analyze the function of runes.
Happy things will happen to the bearer of this rune (Uruz-Laguz-Tyre). At the same time, the fourth rune also formed Sowilu after normalization and deformation. This rune is not included in our spirit number spell, and it can be called or not. At this point, the corresponding values of our magic symbol are 264 (four repetitions) and 68 (four Tyr variants) or 332, representing the cooperative operation of the two forces. Here, "two forces" represent the magician himself and the magical power he evokes in the runes. If you count the Sowilu rune, the total is 396, which can be divisible by 3 and 9 (this is a more powerful pair of values).

After the rune is created, let's take a look at the specific usage of the rune. Our magic symbols can be carved on metal or wood or painted on parchment. In the tradition of rune magic in northern Europe, every combined rune must be endowed with power according to certain conventions before it can take effect. Generally speaking, the magician needs to calculate the rune time and carve the combined rune during the rune. The so-called rune time is to perform magic operation according to the time of a single rune in a combined rune. There are two ways to choose the time, namely, to operate at the time corresponding to each rune and to operate only at the time corresponding to the main rune symbolized by magical will. In the operation (carving process), we should recite the SATOR-Arepo mantra at the beginning and end of the ceremony, that is, start with SATOR, then Arepo, then TENET, then OPERA and finally ROTAS. When expelling the magical energy we use after the ceremony, the process should be the opposite. (a bit like LBRP)
Sator-Arepo mantra chanting is a process based on Sator Rubik's Cube, which is used by many runic magic.
(The picture shows Sator Rubik's Cube)

(Because the specific ceremony involves a lot of content, it is not detailed in the original text, and we will discuss it in detail in future posts. )
But we can still calculate the rune time.
(1) Day 1: 9: 00 a.m. in Laguz, 2: 00 p.m. in Uruz and 8: 00 p.m. in Wunu; The next day: Ansuz corresponds to 4 pm; The third day: Tyr corresponds to 5 am, Uruz corresponds to 2 pm, and Wunjo corresponds to 8 pm; Last day: Ansuz corresponds to 3 pm.
(2) At this time, we will use the sum of runes, that is, 396 (including Soweru), which can be divisible by 9 or 3, so it can be operated at 9 or 3 o'clock in the morning or evening. However, 9 is more powerful, and it is best to operate at 9 o'clock.
Both methods are effective. The choice depends on the magician himself. After completing this process, your combined rune is really powerful. It can be carried around as an amulet in daily life or magic operation, and can also be carved or painted on magic props.
